Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery) and Mini-Brow Lift
Cosmetic surgery of the eyelids (Blepharoplasty) is an extremely satisfying procedure among my patients because it rejuvenates the upper face in an unassuming way. Prior to surgery, patients complain of being told that they look sleepy or bored, especially late in the day. Postoperatively, patients are complimented on their refreshed appearance, like they just returned from a restful vacation.
They look vibrant and wide awake, compared to their previous tired appearance caused by fleshy redundant skin weighing heavily on their eyelids.
I have been performing Eyelid Rejuvenation surgery for over 20 years in NYC and possess the experience and expertise to help you realize your goals of looking and feeling younger and refreshed.

Eyelid Surgery Consultation
The consultation process (plan on spending at least one hour), includes an in-depth discussion about your desires with regard to Eyelid Rejuvenation Surgery. It is the surgeon’s task to explain all aspects of the operation, the pros and cons, and most importantly, the concept of realistic expectations with regard to your postoperative result.
While scarring is a necessary aspect of the surgery, the eyelid region scars very well because the skin is thin, and they are easily camouflaged.
If you have concerns about the aging process, and are tired of being told that you look tired or sleepy, then Eyelid Rejuvenation surgery is an excellent option for you. This type of surgery can enhance and rejuvenate the appearance of your face and eye regions. The best candidates for Eyelid Rejuvenation surgery are healthy individuals and non-smokers who are realistic about what the surgery can afford after a complete consultation. The best results are usually achieved in patients who understand the limitations of the surgery, and prefer their postoperative result to be natural and attractive, and not overdone.
Eyelid Surgery Options
In an upper eyelid Blepharoplasty, I surgically remove redundant upper eyelid skin and sometimes fat, to redefine the upper eyelid in a conservative fashion that rejuvenates the region, without affecting eyelid function. Sometimes droopy forehead skin contributes to this condition, and I combine the Blepharoplasty with a Mini-Brow Lift, to address and enhance the entire upper facial region. This involves a small incision within the scalp above the lateral brow region, allowing me to gently lift the lateral eyebrow region and alleviate the heaviness contributing to the condition.
The lower eyelids can take on a baggy appearance from bulging fat pads from the deeper tissue, creating a tired appearance. This condition is often hereditary, and patients remark that their mother or father have a similar condition. I address this condition by excising some of the bulging fat and re-distributing the rest to eliminate the unappealing eyelid bags in a natural fashion. Sometimes a small amount of lower eyelid skin is removed also to eliminate fine line wrinkling in the area. Laser resurfacing or mild chemical peels may also be used to address redundant skin of the lower lids. Scars in the eyelid region heal extremely well because this region has the thinnest skin on the body and a strong blood supply. That combination results in nearly imperceptible scars.
The Eyelid Surgery Procedure
My technique for Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty) with or without Mini-brow Lift, is an effective and popular procedure to rejuvenate the face in a conservative, yet effective fashion.
Eyelid Rejuvenation Surgery is performed in my state of the art, fully certified operative suite in my office located on the Upper East Side in NYC. Depending on the procedure, I utilize either general anesthesia, or local anesthesia with sedation, administered by one of our experienced, board certified anesthesiologists. Recovery after surgery takes 1-2 hours, with my RN at your side at all times. For your safety, I require that a friend, family member or private duty nurse accompany you home and spend at least one night with you. You will be given a follow-up appointment with me in 1-3 days. All stitches are removed within 7 days.
Recovering from Eyelid Surgery
Most of my patients return to work within 5-7 days postoperatively, and pain after surgery is well controlled with pain medication. My staff and I will counsel you regarding all aspects of scar care to achieve the best possible, least noticeable scars. I have a great deal of experience with all aspects of Eyelid Rejuvenation Surgery, and comfortably possess the required expertise to allow me to achieve the best possible results for you.
Eyelid Rejuvenation Surgery can make you look younger and fresher and also enhances your self-confidence.
How long will results last from my Eyelid Rejuvenation Surgery?
One of the perks of Eyelid Rejuvenation Surgery is that results last a long time because there is only so much eyelid skin in the region, and once removed, recurrence is rare. In 10-20 years, it may be necessary to revise your result, depending on how your aging process continues.
What is the recovery process like after Eyelid Rejuvenation surgery?
Most of my patients are out and about 48 hours after Eyelid Rejuvenation surgery. Bruising and swelling is normal, lasts 1-2 weeks, but is easily hidden with sunglasses or makeup.
Will everybody know I have had Eyelid Rejuvenation surgery?
The nice thing about Eyelid Rejuvenation surgery is that nobody knows for sure! While results can be dramatic, people usually assume that you have just returned from a wonderful vacation and look rested, or think perhaps you lost a little weight. The reason is that the surgery is defined to a relatively small region of the face and only your surgeon knows for sure!
If I come to you for an eyelid tuck, why are you trying to talk me into a Mini-Brow Lift also?
Many patients seeking Eyelid Rejuvenation surgery do not realize that their drooping lateral eyebrows are contributing to the appearance of more heavy, redundant skin of the upper eyelids. To demonstrate my point, in front of a mirror, I gently raise the lateral eyebrow ever so slightly, which also lifts some of the redundant skin of the upper eyelids present, decreasing the amount needed to be excised surgically. It provides a more natural look, and increases the longevity of the result.
Isn’t there some other, better non-surgical procedure that works as well as Eyelid Rejuvenation surgery?
Unfortunately, no. Some claim similar results with laser or even oral supplements, but those claims are false and not substantiated by peer sanctioned research. Do your homework before going down that road!
