Breast Augmentation with Lift

BREAST LIFT IN NEW YORK, NY

Breast Augmentation with Lift, also known as Augmentation-Mastopexy, is designed to lift and reshape the sagging breast, and increase size. In addition to the loss in breast firmness, the nipple and areola (pigmented area around the nipple), are subject to stretching with loss of elasticity and descent of the breasts. The areola expansion is also addressed during the breast lift procedure. Many women lose breast volume, especially after pregnancy or weight loss, and desire augmentation also to regain fullness. I have been performing Breast Augmentation Mastopexy in NYC for over 20 years, and offer various techniques to obtain the best possible result for your particular needs.

BREAST AUGMENTATION WITH LIFT CONSULTATION

The consultation process (plan to spend at least one hour), includes an in-depth discussion about your desires with regard to size, shape and dimensions of your breasts after Augmentation-Mastopexy Surgery. It is the surgeon’s task to explain all aspects of the operation, the pros and cons, and most importantly, the concept of realistic expectations with regard to your postoperative result. I ask each patient to bring photographs demonstrating the size and shape of the breasts that she desires, so I can understand exactly what she is looking for. I prefer to meet a second time with each patient prior to surgery to assure complete understanding of the her desires from her breast lift operation.

THE BREAST AUGMENTATION WITH LIFT PROCEDURE IN NEW YORK CITY

There several possible types of incisions and subsequent scars for this operation; directly around the nipple-areolar complex, or incisions creating anchor-shaped or lollipop-shaped scars. The implants may be saline or silicone, round or shaped, smooth or textured. They can be placed above or below the chest muscle under the breasts. The size of the individual’s breasts and the anatomy dictate the optimal location of implant placement. I am comfortable with all of these incisions and approaches, and I use all types and shapes of implants. I select implants to tailor the operation to the patient desires, anatomy and body type. Nearly all breast tissue may be visualized in mammograms with the implants under the muscle; slightly less so when over the muscle, but breast imaging techniques and technology have improved to such a degree, that most radiologists are extremely comfortable imaging patients with breast implants.

If you have concerns about the size and sagging of your breasts, especially in relation to the rest of your body and are troubled about asymmetry because of smaller breasts, then Breast Augmentation-Mastopexy may be an option for you. This type of surgery can alleviate those concerns, and help provide balance for your individual physique.

IDEAL PATIENTS FOR BREAST AUGMENTATION WITH LIFT SURGERY

Ideal candidates are women who are realistic about what the surgery can afford after a complete consultation. Breast Augmentation/Mastopexy Surgery can be performed for all breast sizes, and technique may differ, depending on your particular needs. Scars on or near the breasts are an inevitable consequence of this type of surgery, but I close the skin with great care and offer advice and support regarding scar care after surgery.

RECOVERY

The Breast Augmentation-Mastopexy operation is performed in my state of the art, fully certified operative suite in my office located on the Upper East Side in NYC. Depending on the procedure, I utilize either general anesthesia, or local anesthesia with sedation, administered by one of our experienced, board certified anesthesiologists. Recovery after surgery takes 1-2 hours, with my RN at your side at all times. For your safety, I require that a friend, family member or private duty nurse accompany you home and spend at least one night with you. You will be given a follow-up appointment with me in 1-3 days.

Most of my patients return to work within 7 days postoperatively, and pain after surgery is well controlled with pain medication. My staff and I will counsel you regarding all aspects of scar care to achieve the best possible, least noticeable scars. Breast Augmentation-Mastopexy Surgery is a highly personal operation that is not fully understood by many people. One should never forget that it is your feelings and justifications that are most important in this regard. If the surgical goals have been met, then your surgery was a success.

BREAST AUGMENTATION AND MASTOPEXY FAQS

WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE OF SILICONE VERSUS SALINE IMPLANTS?

The modern generation silicone implants are soft, safe and have an extremely similar feel to breast tissue. They are most effective in women with little or no breast tissue who are very thin, and in those that require the implants to be placed under the breast tissue, over the muscle. Saline implants are still most effective in many women, especially those with modest amount of breast tissue, and those women desiring implants under the muscle.

HOW LONG DO BREAST IMPLANTS LAST?

Manufacturer’s recommend replacement of silicone implants every 12-15 years. Saline implants may be kept in place until the leak or deflate, because they are filled with saltwater, which your body absorbs. However, they usually last approximately 12-15 years.

HOW LONG CAN I EXPECT TO BE SWOLLEN AFTER UNDERGOING BREAST AUGMENTATION AND MASTOPEXY SURGERY?

The majority of swelling will decrease over the first 4-6 weeks, but complete resolution takes approximately 3 months.

WHEN WILL MY RECOVERY BE COMPLETE?

It usually takes approximately 6 months for the muscle tissue, breast tissue and skin to stretch and accommodate the implants and allow them to settle in. The breasts look good right after surgery, but improve over time, and by the end of 6 months most of my patients tell me that they truly feel like the implants are theirs.

WHAT KIND OF SCARS CAN I EXPECT AFTER HAVING A BREAST AUGMENTATION WITH MASTOPEXY SURGERY?

Each of the approaches described above result with scars that are, for the most part, placed in locations that are hidden and well camouflaged. However, each person heals differently and scarring varies from individual to individual. My staff and I counsel all our patients regarding scar care after surgery. Most women are concerned about scarring, but are thrilled with their perkier, fuller breasts, and accept the trade off.
